The Slim Baker Area is maintained by the Slim Baker Foundation, and open year-round for hiking, snowshoeing, and camping. Snowmobilers may use the old logging road (the Worthen Trail) to the summit, as well. The access road to Slim Baker Lodge — New Chester Mountain Road — is open all year.

A trail map can be found here, for download. (NOTE: bicycles [for example, mountain bikes, road bikes] and self-propelled dirt vehicles [for example, trail bikes, mini bikes, ATVs] are not permitted beyond the parking area by the lodge in order to avoid erosion to the trails and old logging road.)

There is no charge for hiking or picnicking. Modest fees are charged for overnight camping, use of the lodge, and rental of other facilities. Campfire permits must be obtained from the Bristol Fire Department.
